State Capitol Tour

Our State Capital was completed in 1851 for the sec-ond time after a
fire completely destroyed the first build-ing. It is a beautiful building
with great architecture, marble floors, and wall paintings. We will
be given a tour of each floor and the history of each room. This is
great for those students working on their Alabama State History lessons!

Come see your government in action involving federal of-fenses! We will
meet on the steps of the Federal Court-house on St. Joseph Street, downtown
Mobile, before tour-ing a court room, witnessing the opening of a real
trial with real attorneys, visiting the U.S. Marshal's office, and finally
viewing the vacant lock-up area. For safety, they will not expose us
to any criminals in the occupied lock-up area.

Once a year in November visitors can enjoy stepping back in time to
the period from 1700 to 1820 during Alabama Frontier Days. See genuine
blacksmiths at work, traditional Native American dances, battle reenactments,
and more. Browse the living history exhibits or tour the 1751 French
Fort Tou-louse, occupied by a full force of authentically-costumed French
colonial marines or visit the War of 1812 camp, set up next to 1814
Fort Jackson.

One of Alabama’s Top 20 Tourism Events and designated a Cultural
Olympiad Event, the annual Moundville Native Ameri-can Festival will
be held at the University of Alabama’s Moundville Archaeological
Park. There, Native American performing artists, craftspeople, and musicians
will entertain and educate visitors about the rich culture and heritage
that makes Southeastern Indians unique. Bring your CAMERA!
Nine food vendors will be present, but you are welcomed to bring in
your own food and drinks to enjoy the picnic facilities by the Warrior
River.

We will participate in an educational lec-ture about wildlife and the
